 | What advice can you give to young writers? A fascinating discovery during my research for the Pocketbook of Aussie Patriotism was how many great potential novels are hidden in the dark corners of our past. So I also advise budding Australian writers to read Australian history. There are many more great stories just waiting to be discovered by filmmakers, television producers and novelists.
| What about writing courses? Courses are an excellent way to improve your craft skills, and get support and feedback. I have studied at Columbia University in New York and completed a Masters in Creative Writing at RMIT University in Melbourne. One of the great benefits of the latter was the constant introductions to publishers, agents and writers provided by the course supervisor, Antoni Jach.
