Brendan has a 30-year history in the media, both in Australia and overseas. He has worked as a journalist, investigative reporter and sub editor. Additionally, he has clocked up more than 15-years in advertising, media marketing and management.

More recently he has written for The Age, newMatilda.com and the Sydney Sun-Herald. He has reported for Radio National's The Book Show. And he has been a regular guest on ABC Radio’s Perspective program.

He holds a Masters degree in writing, as well as postgraduate qualifications in teaching. He has undertaken further study at Columbia University in New York, as well as at Melbourne and Monash universities. In 2007 he was asked to teach at Monash, and is currently undertaking further studies at the Victorian College of the Arts.

He is married to Robyn and they have three children. Brendan currently co-hosts Published or Not on Melbourne radio's 3CR 855 AM, Thursday 11.30 am.
